Dedicated Gluten-Free:
1. Hartford Flavor Cocktail Parlor
All food and drinks are gluten-free at Hartford Flavor Cocktail Parlor. This is a great place for a date-night splurge as the decor is swanky and fun. I was sooooo pumped to have crab cakes because a Gluten-Free version is not available anywhere near where we live. I am sad to report that they came out cold and lacking in any sort of flavor. However; the Bison Sirloin with Broccolini was delicious! My husband really enjoyed the Banana, Birch, & Bourbon Cocktail. I tried the Cherry Bomb, and although it was not quite my style, I am sure a lot of people would really like it. The Chocolate Torte with Strawberry Rose Coulis and Whipped Cream was decadent and a great way to end the meal!
My Faves:
- Bison Sirloin with Broccolini
- Chocolate Torte w/Strawberry Rose Coulis

2. Taco Dia: Newton
We drove 50 minutes out of the way to get here, and it was well worth it! I was told mixed information on the drinks being safe, so I played it safe and opted for food only. They serve tacos “family style,” so the entire table’s tacos will be combined and brought out on one plate (more plates if you order a lot). If you want certain tacos combined, due to other allergies or preferences, I highly recommend requesting them grouped in a specific way. The tacos are very small, but they were tasty! I really enjoyed the Baja Fish Taco, Disco Fries, Fried Ice Cream, and Churros. They were all incredible! The Enchiladas and Birria Taco did not have much flavor in our opinion, but we like a lot of flavor.
My Faves:
- Baja Fish Taco
- Disco Fries (they were curly fries y’all!)
- Churros (no sauce)
- Fried Ice Cream

Not Dedicated Gluten-Free:
1. Somos Handcrafted Arepas: New Haven
This restaurant is 95% gluten-free. They have good procedures in place that ensure cross contamination is not an issue and take Celiac Disease seriously. They only have a couple of things that aren’t safe. They are made in the back on different equipment. They are also baked, and not fried, like everything else. Additionally, they keep the items with gluten in the enclosed case on a separate counter far away from where your food is made. They changed their gloves without me having to ask which was greatly appreciated! I wish they would bottle and sell the Chipotle Mayo-it was incredible! This restaurant is family run and the staff is extremely accommodating and kind!
My Fave:
- Shredded Beef Arepa with Queso Fresco, Jalapenos, and Chipotle Mayo

2. Tacos Los Gordos: New Haven
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place despite some of the reviews I saw online. I tested the tacos for gluten and my sensor came back with Gluten Found. They were very nice here, and I was really hoping the food would be safe, but it was not.
